Every wine has its own personality and style, a combination of the grape, where it’s grown, the terroir and the little something special that the winemaker’s expertise brings to the whole process. Australian wine is no exception, with its regional diversity, quality and innovation.

Wine Australia has two innovative educational programs for wine professionals. There is the Australian Wine Adventure Tour (known as AusWAT), for young wine professionals working in the retail or restaurant sector; and a higher level for wine educators that is affectionately called AusWISE, the Australian Wine Intensive Study Edition. This year Wine Australia partnered with the Society of Wine Educators (SWE), for this new program. Based on Australia: world class modules,
it gave applicants a chance to learn -- and to win a trip to Australia!

The five winners visited Australia in September. This amazing trip covered wine regions as diverse as Australia itself.  Two of the regions visited were:

• Margaret River, Western Australia 
• Barossa Valley, South Australia
