A+ Australian Wine

Just being ‘good’ and saying ‘Australia’ on the label is no longer enough to tell the true story of Australian wine.

Ours is a hugely diverse wine community - from Brand Champions through to Landmark Australia wines - and our best wines are regionally distinct and made by people with great stories to tell. We need to share the characters and places that give our wines distinctive personalities and make them uniquely Australian. 

There are three things we aim to achieve in our marketing activities:
1. improve the current image and perception of Australian wine;
2. increase the price people are prepared to pay for Australian wine; and
3. introduce a wider range of wines and improve representation in restaurants and retail stores.

At the heart of our marketing strategy is a brand that invites a new way to look at Australian wine.

A+ works in several ways. First, there is a clear connection with excellence and high-achievement, while at the same time it also represents that there is always more to discover about Australian wine.  To ensure there is clarity around the promotion of A+ Australian Wine, we will be focusing on wines that can display the following criteria:

  • bottled in Australia;
  • from one of Australia’s 62 regions* (shown on the label); and
  • genuine Australian brands (ie not an importer’s own label, a retail BOB or an opportunistic bulk wine)  
    *please note sub-regions are included within the regions, and Gippsland and Tasmania will also be accepted.
