Geographical Indications Committee

The Geographical Indications Committee (GIC) is a statutory committee of the Australian Wine and Brandy Corporation established in 1994.

Its function is defined in the AWBC Act as being "to make determinations of geographical indications for wine in relation to regions and localities in Australia".

The GIC has three members plus two nominated alternate members to avoid potential conflicts of interest. The current members and alternates are:

  • Ms Anabel Shears Carter (presiding member)
  • Mr Brian Englefield (grape grower member)
  • Mr Richard Dolan (alternate grape grower member)
  • Mr Dennis Mutton (winemaker member)
  • Mr Bruce McDougall (alternate winemaker member)
