We are excited to share that the new WALAS online export system is not far from completion.

There are a few things that exporters can do in preparation for the release of the new system.

  • Update redundant/old contacts to include ‘DO NOT USE’ next to their names in WEA so that these contacts are not migrated across to the new system.
  • Ensure all contact information is correct, particularly email addresses.
  • Confirm that each individual contact under a licence has a unique email address. Those who share an email address (or are currently registered without an email address) will not be migrated across to the new system.
  • Ensure contacts under a licence have the correct responsibility areas assigned to them, especially the correct ‘default’ contact. The default contact in WEA will become the admin contact in WALAS and only the admin contact can add new contacts and assign system access levels (i.e. admin, general user, finance, product only, observer).
  • All associated exporter relationships will need to be set up in the new system, to allow exporters to assign access to specific labels and volumes for their associated exporters. Prepare a list now of the associated exporters you will need to set up in WALAS after the system comes on-line.
  • In the WALAS system users can remove consignees if no longer needed. Prepare a list of any redundant consignees that you can remove from WALAS once the system comes online.
  • There will be a cutover period on transactions when WALAS is introduced. All contacts within the existing WEA system and recipients of this newsletter will be sent complete details of the cutover timeframes. It will be important to ensure any pending product or shipments are closed out prior to cutover as any  applications that are in progress will not be migrated across to the WALAS.

Training modules available online

Training modules accessible via our website take you through the most common processes in WALAS. The training modules include access to downloadable quick reference guides that step you through aspects of the new system, including setting up your associated exporters, editing your shipments and applying for import certificates.

Some of our training modules are now also available in Mandarin. See here for details.
