Applications for AGWA bursaries close Good Friday

20 Mar 2015

The Australian Grape and Wine Authority (AGWA) is reminding people that applications for its next round of travel and incoming scholar bursaries will close on Good Friday, 3 April.

AGWA invests $50,000 each year in travel bursaries and $30,000 in incoming scholar bursaries with call outs for applications every six months.

Grape and wine researchers are invited to apply for the bursaries to fund travel, study tours or conferences they wish to attend to develop their knowledge and skills, and network with the international research community.

Incoming scholar bursaries are to bring international experts to Australia to participate in workshops, meetings, conferences, symposia or research projects.

Dr Liz Waters, AGWA’s RD&E Portfolio Manager, says successful applicants will be able to highlight the opportunity for their own professional development, anticipated benefits for the sector and how the information will be widely disseminated.

‘Supplementing existing research by participating in educational and professional forums or learning from others in the international research community is an important way to develop the knowledge and skills of our researchers.

‘It’s equally important that the information gleaned by successful applicants is then shared with the rest of the grape and wine community so that everyone can benefit.’

The application process gives preference to those who are currently making, or who are potentially able to make, a significant contribution to research and the travel must relate to their research interest and expertise.

Applicants are advised to consult AGWA’s Corporate Plan 2014–15 when developing their applications.

Applications for both travel and incoming scholar bursaries will close on Good Friday, 3 April. Travel must commence between 1 July and 31 December 2015.
