Job description:

Wine Australia is the Australian Government service body for the Australian wine and grape community. The office based in San Francisco supports the continued effort to establish Australian wine as a major player in the dynamic North American wine market. This is achieved through a variety of activities including events, media, trade engagement and PR.

A newly created role exists in our Marketing team for a talented Marketing/Communications graduate who has a minimum of two years’ work experience and is looking to advance their career in a dynamic, innovative and collaborative work environment. This exciting and varied role will support the Events Manager with the planning, implementation and execution of event marketing functions that promote Australian wine. The Marketing Assistant plays a key role in the delivery of events in North America. In this role, you will have the opportunity to be involved in large perception-change marketing campaigns, you will gain exposure and experience working on multi-faceted marketing projects across all marketing tactics including events, experiential, marcoms, and sponsorship. In addition, the role offers you the opportunity to work with our Market Insights team developing strategically focused campaigns.

Responsibilities include:
  • Support the planning, organisation and delivery of events
  • Deliver event activity on time and within budget
  • Manage event tasks from inception to completion and to a high standard
  • Ensure functions are focused on promoting the Australian fine wine category and positive relationship building
  • Coordinate and deliver sponsorships that are aligned to strategy
  • Ensure all sponsorships meet agreed objectives
  • Be the first point of contact for all sponsorship-related communication
  • Liaise with stakeholders to fulfil wine requests
  • Maintain and develop client relationships as required
  • Maintain timely communication to stakeholders
  • Maintain local, industry and inter-agency relationships
  • Manage wine supply for tastings, dinners and promotional opportunities
  • Manage the Call for Wine for all North American activities
  • Maintain San Francisco office wine inventory.
Qualifications, skills and experience:
  • Tertiary qualifications in Marketing or Communications
  • Experience in events, external relations and marketing
  • Demonstrated project management capabilities
  • Well-developed stakeholder management skills
  • The ability to sustain focus on conflicting priorities and deliver at pace with consistent quality
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently to complete tasks
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Digital Marketing knowledge and/or experience
  • Wine knowledge would be preferred, but is not a pre-requisite.
