The Australian Geographical Indication "Greater Perth" was entered in the Register of Protected Names on 1 May 1996 in response to a direction received by the Registrar from the Presiding Member of the Geographical Indications Committee acting under Section 40Z of the WAC Act 1980.

The geographical indication "Greater Perth" is located within the State of Western Australia, Australia.The beginning point of the boundary is located at the intersection of northern boundary of the Shire of Dandaragan and the Indian Ocean and proceeds thence in a generally east direction along the northern boundary of the Shire of Dandaragan and thence in a generally south direction along the eastern boundary of the Shire of Dandaragan to its intersection with the northern boundary of the Shire of Gingin, and proceeds thence in a generally south east direction along the northern boundary of the Shire of Gingin to its intersection with the northern boundary of the Shire of Chittering, and proceeds thence in a generally east direction along the northern boundary of the Shire of Chittering and thence in a generally south direction along the eastern boundary of the Shire of Chittering to its intersection with the northern boundary of the Shire of Swan, and proceeds thence in a generally east direction along the northern boundary of the Shire of Swan and thence in a generally south, east and thence south direction along the eastern boundary of the Shire of Swan to its intersection with the northern boundary of the Shire of Mundaring, and proceeds thence in a generally east direction along the northern boundary of the Shire of Mundaring and thence in a generally south, east, south, west and thence south direction along the eastern boundary of the Shire of Mundarring and thence in a generally west direction along the southern boundary of the Shire of Mundarring to its intersersection with the eastern boundary of the Shire of Kalamunda, and proceeds thence in a generally south direction along the eastern boundary of the Shire of Kalamunda to its intersection with the eastern boundary of the Shire of Armidale-Kelmscott, and proceeds thence in a generally south direction along the eastern boundary of the Shire of Armidale-Kelmscott and thence in a generally west and thence south west direction along the southern boundary of the Shire of Armidale-Kelmscott to its intersection with eastern boundary of the Shire of Serpentine-Jarrahdale, and proceeds thence in a generally south east and thence south direction along the eastern boundary of the Shire of Serpentine-Jarrahdale to its intersection with the eastern boundary of the Shire of Murray, and proceeds thence in a generally south direction along the eastern boundary of the Shire of Murray to its intersection with the eastern boundary of the Shire of Waroona, and proceeds thence in a generally south direction along the eastern boundary of the Shire of Waroona and thence in a generally west direction along the southern boundary of the Shire of Waroona to its intersection with the coastline of Western Australia as formed by the Indian Ocean, and proceeds thence in a generally north direction following the coastline to the beginning point.

The area so described includes all of the Shires of Dandaragan, Gingin, Chittering, Wanneroo, Mundaring, Kalamunda, Serpentine-Jarrahdale, Mandurah, Murray, Waroona, Swan, Kalamunda, Rockingham, Peppermint Grove, Armidale-Kelmscott and all adjacent islands.

The area so enclosed includes all of the Cities of Bayswater, Belmont, Canning, Cockburn, Fremantle, Gosnells, Melville, Nedlands, Perth, South Perth, Sterling, Subiaco, Wanneroo.The areas so enclosed includes all of the Towns of Bassendean, Claremont, Cottesloe, East Fremantle, Kwinana, Mosman Park.
