The Australian Geographical Indication "Mudgee" was entered in the Register of Protected Names on 24 August 2000 in response to a direction received by the Registrar from the Presiding Member of the Geographical Indications Committee acting under Section 40Z of the WAC Act 1980.

The Geographical Indication "Mudgee" is located within the zone Central Ranges, within the State of New South Wales, Australia.
The beginning point of the boundary is situated on Map Dubbo (sheet SI 55-4) at grid reference GE0523, being Currawarra Homestead, then proceeds east of northerly in a straight line to the edge of map at grid reference GE1258; On to Map Gilgandra (Sheet SH 55-16) at grid reference GE1258, then proceeds east of northerly in the same straight line to the homestead at grid reference GE1260, then proceeds north easterly in a straight line to normal spot elevation 570 at grid reference GE1865, then proceeds east north easterly in a straight line to homestead at grid reference GE3973, then proceeds generally easterly in a straight line to silo at grid reference GE6272, then proceeds east of southerly in a straight line to the edge of map at grid reference GE6656;
