The Australian Geographical Indication ‘Upper Hunter Valley’ was entered in the Register of Protected Names on 29 July 2010 in response to a direction from Wine Australia pursuant to section 40ZD of the WAC Act.

then in a northerly direction along the Merriwa River to its intersection with Coulsons Creek at grid reference KK513470; then along Coulsons Creek to the edge of the map at grid reference KK557566; on to Blackville map (Sheet 8934) at grid reference KK557566;
