Retailers and restaurants across New York City are celebrating the second annual Aussie Wine Week.
Aussie Wine Week 2018 is a series of trade and consumer activities designed to drive awareness of Australian wine in the USA market. Wine Australia's largest annual New York trade tasting mid-week brings a contingent of Australian winemakers to town and a record number of retail shops are conducting in-store consumer tastings throughout the week. Aussie Wine Week 2018 concludes with a distributor brunch where stakeholders will get a sneak preview of what’s in store for the inaugural Aussie Wine Month 2019.
Wine Australia has invested additional funding in 2018-19 to expand activities across the week, extend on-premise engagement, enhance social, public relations and media activities and reach a broader consumer audience. The additional investment is supported by the Australian Government’s $50 million Export and Regional Wine Support Package. The core aim of these activities is to raise the perception of, and demand for Australian wine, in the USA market.
There will also be investment on planning and logistics in 2018-19 to expand the event even further in 2019-20, with plans to get more than 100 Australian wineries in-market for the inaugural Aussie Wine Month USA in September 2019. Wine Australia will coordinate with importers, distributors, wineries, locations and venues to hit the USA market en masse with a series of showcase events, including a second edition of Australia Decanted.
