With 76 wineries, over 500 wines and a full programme of events, Wine Australia’s presence at ProWein 2017 was bigger and better than ever before.

Considered Europe’s most important wine event, ProWein is a three day trade fair, which takes place every year in Düsseldorf in Germany.

ProWein 2017 set new record visitor and exhibitor numbers; this year 6,500 exhibitors participated and 58,500 visitors from 130 countries attended. ProWein organisers also reported high numbers of managers, with two-thirds of all attendees described as ‘top decision-makers.’ This year also marked Wine Australia’s biggest presence at the fair, with more wineries, wines and events than previous years.

The Wine Australia stand was located in the middle of the New World hall and featured over 500 wines from 76 wineries, across 34 different regions. Exhibitors included Alpha Box & Dice, Chaffey Bros. Wine Co., d’Arenberg, PlanB! Wines, Schild Estate, Tyrrell’s Wines, Yering Station and Voyager Estate.

Over the three days, various events showcased the diversity of Australian wine and challenged visitors’ perceptions of the region. The programme consisted of feature tastings, regional tastings, master classes, a food and wine matching session, happy hours with drinks and canapés and tastings in collaboration with the WSET. Cool climate regions, Mediterranean varieties and old vines were some of the themes of the events.

The stand had even more meeting space than last year and this proved a great asset for the exhibiting wineries and visitors. Across the three days, the space was constantly being used for appointments with key buyers and influencers from across Europe, Asia and America.

At this year’s fair, both Wine Australia’s CEO Andreas Clark and General Manager Marketing Stuart Barclay joined the Wine Australia UK and Europe team on the stand.
