For five years the Wine Australia China Awards have been recognising companies and individuals in the Chinese wine sector which have been contributing to growth, demand and education and marketing of Australian Wine.

The Awards event, a gala dinner and formal Awards presentation, is the major annual industry celebration in China for those involved in importing, distributing or selling Australian Wine or those educating trade and consumers about Australian wine. ---- This year, Wine Australia sought sector feedback to help strengthen and expand the awards. This year, the Awards will acknowledge high achievers across eight categories, with six new categories:

Best Australian Wine List (*Existing Award) – Sponsored by Sydney Royal Wine Show

This category recognises the best wine list from a restaurant, bar or hotel located in Mainland China that has a wine list of a high standard which:

  • Contains an excellent representation of Australian wines
  • Enables the customer to select Australian wines of different variety and style, from different wine regions.

Best Australian Wine Promotional Campaign – On Premise (*New Award)

This category recognises an outstanding Australian wine promotional campaign for a hotel, bar or restaurant that:

  • Demonstrates innovation, creativity and clever marketing
  • Attracts and engages customers, enhancing their appreciation of Australian wine.

Best Australian Wine Promotional Campaign – Online Stores (*New Award)

This category recognises an outstanding Australian wine promotional campaign for an online store that:

  • Demonstrates innovation, creativity and clever marketing
  • Attracts and engages customers, enhancing their appreciation of Australian wine.

Best Australian Wine Educator (*Existing Award) – Sponsored by Barossa Wine School

This category recognises an individual who has demonstrated outstanding achievement in all aspects of Australian wine education and training, including:

  • Innovation and excellence in course design
  • Innovation and excellence in development and delivery
  • Demonstrated support for students and their learning goals.

Best Feature Story on Australian Wine (consumer media) (*New Award)

This category recognises outstanding writing in a published article in consumer media that has content which is:

  • Entertaining
  • Thought-provoking
  • Provides the reader with new or original insights into the world of Australian wine.

Best Feature Story on Australian Wine (trade media) (*New Award)

This category recognises outstanding writing in a published article in trade media that has content which is:

  • Entertaining
  • Thought-provoking
  • Provides the reader with new or original insights into the world of Australian wine.

Online Wine Communicator Award sponsored by McLaren Vale Grape Wine and Wine Tourism Association

This category recognises outstanding work by an online wine communicator with an interest in Australian wine using social media, website, or video content that demonstrates:

  • Innovation
  • A contemporary focus
  • A clever use of multiple communication tools.

Online Food & Wine Communicator of the Year (*New Award) –​ Sponsored by Tourism Australia

This category recognises outstanding work by an online food and wine communicator with an interest in Australian wine using social media, website, or video content that demonstrates:
