The Australian Geographical Indication "Alpine Valleys" was entered in the Register of Protected Names on 29 November 1999 in response to a direction received by the Registrar from the Presiding Member of the Geographical Indications Committee acting under Section 40Z of the WAC Act 1980.

The Geographical Indication "Alpine Valleys" is located within the zone North East Victoria, within the State of Victoria, Australia.
The beginning point of the boundary is situated on Map Wangaratta (Sheet 8125) at grid reference DV511726, being the junction of the Beechworth Wangaratta Road and the Markwood Tarrawingee Road, then proceeds generally easterly along the Beechworth Wangaratta Road to the edge of map at grid reference DV552730: On to Map Albury (Sheet 8225) at grid reference DV552729, then continues generally easterly along Beechworth Wangaratta Road to the intersection of that road and an unnamed road at grid reference DV590718, then proceeds generally southerly along the unnamed road to its intersection with the Wangaratta Bright railway line at grid reference DV589710, then proceeds generally easterly along that railway line and the disused Beechworth spur line to the Back Everton Road at grid reference DV622692, then proceeds generally easterly along the Back Everton Road to its junction with an unnamed road at grid reference DV634688, then proceeds north-easterly in a straight line to the hilltop at grid reference DV679703, then proceeds south-easterly in a straight line to the Buckland Gap Road at grid reference DV730695, then proceeds south-easterly in a straight line to the intersection of Flagstaff Road and Basin Creek Track at grid reference DV753648, then proceeds east north-easterly in a straight line to Mt.
