The Australian Geographical Indication "Strathbogie Ranges" was entered in the Register of Protected Names on 25 March 2002 in response to a direction received by the Registrar from the Presiding Member of the Geographical Indications Committee acting under Section 40Z of the WAC Act 1980.

The beginning point of the boundary is located on Map Nagambie (Sheet 7924) at grid reference CV426134, being the intersection of Hume Highway and Hughes Creek, then proceeds north easterly along Hume Highway to the edge of map at grid reference CV662283; On to Map Euroa (Sheet 8024) at grid reference CV662283, then proceeds north easterly along Hume Highway to its junction with the Freeway under construction at grid reference CV965491, then proceeds easterly along the Freeway under construction to its intersection with an unnamed road at grid reference CV985487, then proceeds west of southerly along the unnamed road to its intersection with another unnamed road at grid reference CV982458, then proceeds generally south easterly along the unnamed road to its intersection with Midland Highway at grid reference DV085398, then proceeds west of southerly in a straight line to the top of Mount Strathbogie at grid reference DV042126, then proceeds generally westerly in a straight line to the Merton to Euroa road at grid reference CV822107, then proceeds south westerly in a straight line to the top of Mount Budd at grid reference CV730048, then proceeds southerly in a straight line to the edge of map at grid reference CV730042; On to Map Alexandra (Sheet 8023) at grid reference CV730042, then proceeds southerly along the same straight line to the TV Tower on Black Range at grid reference CU731955, then proceeds south south westerly in a straight line to Mt.
