Australian wine export monitor
About the report
The Export Monitor is a one-page high-level historical summary of the total exports of Australian wine. It includes both value and volume of export sales broken down by wine style and container type, plus the percentage change year-on-year for the category over the past 10 financial or calendar years. It does not include variety or regional information.
Report summary – 2025 financial year
Over the last ten financial years (prior to 2025), the total volume of exported wine has been between 619 million litres and 852 million litres per annum, with a total value of between A$1.86 billion and A$2.87 billion FOB.
Total wine volume has declined by an average of 1.3 per cent per year over the past 10 years, while value has increased by an average of 2.7 per cent per year. The five-year average growth rates are lower than the 10-year rates, largely influenced by the declines between 2021 and 2024.
In the 2025 financial year, the value of Australian wine exports increased by 13.3 per cent to $2.5 billion and volume decreased by 3.1 per cent compared with the previous year to 638.5 million litres.
Compared to the previous year, bottled still red wine exports increased by 14 per cent in volume while bottled white wine decreased by 5 per cent. Sparkling wine decreased by 0.1 per cent in value to $40 million and decreased by 4 per cent in volume to 6 million litres in the financial year ended 30 June 2025.
The report is updated annually. Previous reports are also available. See also the Export Dashboard.
