Aussie wine to be celebrated across the globe for Australia Day

23 Jan 2015

Wine Australia will host a series of events around the world  to coincide with Australia Day, showcasing the quality, diversity, provenance and personality of our wines.

The #aussiewine for #australiaday social media campaign is encouraging Australians celebrating the day to make sure that if there’s wine on the table, it’s a glass of Australian wine.

As part of Wine Australia’s user-pays activities (UPA) Market Program, the overseas events will be held over the next two weeks in Mexico, the UK, Ireland and the US.

Wine Australia’s Stuart Barclay says Australia Day is opportune for kick-starting the New Year by encouraging hundreds of people to reconsider what they think they know about Australian wine.

'Through events where wine brands can tell their stories, we give people the chance to learn more about the diversity of our regions and their champion grape varieties and styles.

'Events tied in to our national holiday are one way we can drive interest in and demand for our wines, delivering benefit for the entire grape and wine community.'

Australia Day events include:

  • Australian Embassy Tasting, Mexico City, Mexico – 22 January 2015
  • Australia Today Trade/Media Tasting, San Francisco, USA – 26 January 2015
  • SA Culinary Adventure, San Francisco, USA – 26 January 2015
  • Australia Day Tasting, London UK – 27 January 2015
  • Annual Trade Tasting, Dublin, Ireland – 29 January 2015.
