Investigation into wine industry waste management

Abstract

The aims of the “Investigation into wine industry waste management” project were to identify the sources of information currently available on wine industry waste management and identify research and development gaps related to waste management in the wine industry. Twenty-seven representatives from a range of different organisations involved with the Australian wine industry
attended the Wine Industry Waste Management Forum (held at Nuriootpa on the 28th of November 2002). This forum enabled new networks between industry, research and government agencies to be created and provided an opportunity to clarify the issues and direction of research and development activities. A review paper has been prepared which provides a summary of the
forum.

Summary

Waste management issues for the Australian wine industry were identified and prioritised. Information needs were identified which will guide future research and development contributing to improved waste management practices in the Australian wine industry.
