The 6th In Vino Analytica Scientia conference was held in Angers, France from July 2nd to 4th 2009 and attracted 200 delegates from 22 different countries. The conference discussed analytical techniques in wine science.

Summary

The 6th In Vino Analytical Scientia conference attracted some of the world’s leading viticulture and oenology professionals and researchers, providing a forum to discuss and present the latest developments in analytical science. The conference, held in Angers, France from July 2nd to 4th 2009, was attended by 200 delegates from 22 different countries and comprised 37 oral and 245 poster presentations. The presentations covered a diverse range of analytical wine science topics, under the themes: chemical and biochemical reactions; chemical and biochemical analysis; authentication and traceability; sensory and chemometrics; and sensory analysis.

Several key research and development concepts were identified from presentations and discussions. Additionally, the conference breakout sessions, lunches and Gala dinner provided opportunities to meet with other conference delegates to discuss research interests, directions and the potential for collaboration. It is anticipated that knowledge and introductions gained through the conference will be applied to ongoing research activities, as well as to the establishment of new projects, potentially with the involvement of international collaborators.
