Wine Australia’s annual Winter Trade Tastings returned to San Francisco February 8, bringing more fine Australian wines and exciting discoveries than ever before!
The Illuminated seminar showcased an exciting flight of wines that were selected by the local panellists and presented to somms, buyers and media. These were the wines that inspired our influential panellists to take a closer look at the wines, regions, styles, and winemaking practices of Australia, and the panellist commentary on their experiences made for compelling and unique seminars.
Aaron Ridgway, Head of Market Wine Australia Americas noted, ‘This week’s panels confirmed that curiosity and appreciation for Australian fine wines is taking off. The vast knowledge and personal storytelling contributed by each panellist led to very positive feedback from attendees and a sense that even seasoned tasters have much to discover and learn.’
The seminar was immediately followed by the Winter Trade Tasting where over 160 members of trade and media tasted through 228 of Australia's exciting fine wines from 75 wineries and 25 regions at the Winter Trade Tasting. This was complemented by three blind tasting tables, which challenged attendee’s perceptions of Australian wine, and the Illuminated panel showcased their selections to the broader trade to ensure a robust and exciting day of immersion into Australian wine.
