More than 40 winemakers, winery owners and principals flew in from Australia to pour their wines at the London Wine Fair’s Wines Unearthed.
The Wines Unearthed zone at the London Wine Fair, located on the upper level of London Olympia, was dedicated to producers that were seeking representation in the UK. At the fair over 7-9 June 2022, 30 Australian wineries participated in Wines Unearthed. These wineries are gearing up for doing business in the UK and were looking for distributors.
Winemakers, winery owners and winery principals from all 30 wineries poured their wines. It’s the first time in two and a half years that a group of Aussies came over en-masse to the UK to share their wines and tell their stories.
The 30 wineries are from across Victoria, South Australia and New South Wales. The event provided a great opportunity for attendees to revisit famous regions including Barossa, McLaren Vale and Yarra Valley, and explore lesser-known regions such as Grampians, King Valley and Langhorne Creek. The wineries ranged in size from small family owned to larger companies, and included exciting new start-ups and historic wineries with old vines.
The wines gave an excellent snapshot of the current, vibrant wine scene in Australia. From elegant sparkling wines to racy Riesling, classic Cabernet and old vine Shiraz, to alternative varieties and award-winning fortified wine, there was something for every buyer.
