In early September 2018, a group of winemakers and winery owners from the Mornington Peninsula will land in the UK for a series of events. They’re over in London and the surrounding areas to showcase the latest releases from this exciting cool maritime region.

Situated on the southern coast of Australia and only one hour south of Melbourne, the Mornington Peninsula is surrounded by water on three sides. This cool climate, maritime region is influenced heavily by the cold waters of the Great Southern Ocean and prevailing cool southerly winds.

The wines are predominantly made from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, although some cool-climate styles of Shiraz and Pinot Gris are also produced.  With smaller, family-run wineries dominating the wine scene in this small region, the focus is on quality, character, elegance and longevity.

Since the first vines were planted over 40 years ago, the wines of Mornington Peninsula have grown in stature and pedigree, receiving accolades from many corners of the world. The enthusiasm for the wines of Mornington Peninsula are echoed in the export figures: exports from the region are up by 36% in the last 12 months (MAT March 2018), with Pinot Noir growing by 40%.

Don’t miss this trade tasting at Australia House in London. Taste the wines and hear the stories from nine winemakers and winery owners whilst finding out the latest from the Mornington Peninsula.
