Showcase your wines to key buyers at the New-to-Market Wine Tasting 2022 in Bangkok, Thailand

Please note that Expressions of Interest for this event are now closed.  Austrade and Wine Australia will advise successful participants as soon as possible.

Participating wineries will have the opportunity to submit up to 4 SKUs, to take the guess-work out of purchasing decisions for the up to 100 buyers who will be targeted for the event, and build confidence for buyers and wineries in establishing beneficial commercial relationships through subsequent meetings

  • Buyers will be hosted through the tasting room and presented with all participants wines to taste and review.
  • Where possible, feedback from buyers will be compiled by Austrade at the conclusion of the event and presented to participants. 
  • Meetings requested by buyers as a result of the tasting event will be scheduled and facilitated by Austrade at a time suitable to both the buyer and the participant.

Twenty-six places are available, and final participants will be selected by Wine Australia and Austrade being the first 26 expressions of interest that meet the criteria below. All participants will be presented to buyers at the event, however meetings with buyers as a result of this event are not guaranteed and are at the request of buyers only.

Exhibitor Costs and Registration

There is no cost to participate in this event, however, participating companies agree to provide feedback on your experience and any export sales progress and results that eventuate as a result of this event. This feedback mechanism will happen during, immediately after, and potentially up to 12 months after the initiative has ended (in order to collate data on export sales progress). This assists us in better serving Australian exporters to achieve their international export development goals, and we appreciate your agreement to participate. Participants are expected to arrange for their own delivery of wine samples to the event via NORMAL Australia Post only. Participants will be required to pre-pay all costs and customs duties before dispatch. Austrade cannot incur costs at the destination on your behalf.

Special conditions and participation criteria

Consistent with the objective of Wine Australia and Austrade’s (the Organisers) marketing and promotional activities overseas being to increase the demand and the premium paid for all Australian wine, the Organisers will have regard to the criteria below when determining the eligibility of a relevant party to participate in the new-to-market tasting event in Thailand (the Event).

Participant Criteria for the ‘New-to-Market Wine Tasting 2022 – Thailand

  • Whether the participant contributes to Wine Australia’s marketing and promotional activities through payment of the Wine Grape Levy or the Wine Export Charge.
  • Whether the Organisers are satisfied that the brand (including the label) to be promoted by the participant at the Event has a well-established presence in Australia and/or in other overseas markets.
  • Whether the quality and the reputation for quality of the wines to be displayed by the participant at the Event has any of the following:
    • high ratings’ from reputable wine press (such as Wine Advocate, Decanter or James Halliday);
    • have been the recipient any wine press awards (such as a ‘Decanter’ award); and/or 
    • have been the recipients of any silver or gold (or higher) medals at a wine show of an Australian state.
  • Whether the participant has engaged in any activity that might affect adversely the export trade in wine or Wine Australia’s ability to successfully promote Australian wine overseas. For example, whether the relevant party has engaged in (or is suspected of engaging in) ‘copycat’ activity.
  • Whether participants can demonstrate that their export volume, revenue and/or business has been adversely affected by recent changes to importation laws for Australian wine in the APAC region.
  • Whether participants are new to the Thailand market.
  • Whether the participant has a profile on the Australian Wine CONNECT platform.
  • Whether the participant has a valid export identification number

Terms and Conditions of Entry to the Event 

  • A participant may submit an expression of interest but submitting an expression of interest does not guarantee the participant a place at the Event.
  • Successful participants will be notified by the Organisers.
  • The participant must not already have a form of distribution for wine in Thailand.
  • Any brand or wine not deemed eligible by the Organisers for inclusion for the Event will not be successfully endorsed as a participant at the Event
  • Places are strictly limited and a maximum number of 26 participants shall be selected for the Event.
  • There shall be only one place available per participant however, the participant can represent a number of brands.
  • A participant can’t register brands separately.
  • Final participants will be selected at the sole discretion of the Organisers.
  • Final participants selected will represent a cross-section of Australian States, regions, Geographical Indications and/or varietals.
  • Participants must ensure that wines submitted for the Event are under screw cap only.
  • All participants will be presented to buyers at the Event, however meetings with buyers as a result of this Event are not guaranteed and are at the request of buyers only.
